Many women want long, luxurious locks, but they don’t want to take the time to grow their hair out. For other women, they struggle to get their hair as long as they like. It seems like it doesn’t want to grow like it should. If you are looking to enhance your look with beautiful, soft, long waves this summer, you might want to look into some of the different hair extensions on the market today.

There are a variety of different types of hair extensions available today. Choose from permanent extensions, clip-ins and more. Beyond the type of extensions available, there are also different hair types, such as synthetic or real. While some types of extensions can only be done by a professional, others can done on your own in the comfort of your own home.

Clip-ins are fun and don’t require any long-term commitment. However, they don’t look as much like the real thing as some of the other extensions out there. While you can wash and style them just like you would your own hair, they tend to get ratty and worn from frequent use. Real synthetic extensions tend to be more durable and able to withstand frequent use.

Glue-ins are attached to your natural hair using keratin bonds along the tip of the extension. They are fused in placing using a hot tool. They look amazing and are quite popular, but they do require a lot of upkeep and salon appointments to ensure they stay looking amazing. You also have to avoid oils, conditioners and any heated appliances by the connection or you will weaken their bond and cause them to fall out before their time.

Sewn-in extensions are ideal for individuals with curly, thick or coarse hair. They are sewn into a section of your natural hair that has been tightly braided. With these particular extensions, you will need to commit to a lot of upkeep. Expect to go to the salon every six weeks or so to make sure your hair underneath is still nice and tight and the extensions are secure. Your hair has to be able to handle the weight of these extensions or they aren’t going to work well for you.

In the end, you need to spend some time going through the various options with the stylist to come up with a solution that is going to work for your individual wants, needs and preferences.
