Trench Into Spring!

Thanks to the likes of Burberry and Armani, the trench coat has been resurrected for Spring 2017. This hot wardrobe item is sold by major fashion designers and e-tailers alike. If you do not have a trench coat hanging in your closet, now is the time to get one. If you have a trench in your closet that you haven’t worn in decades, now is the time to pull it out and dust it off because Vintage trench coats are back. Here’s more on this season’s hot accessory.

Short and Bright

This season, many of the trench coats by big designers are short and tight. Close-fitting and double-breasted spy style is the hip thing with the Burberry set. Each of these coats end above the knees (or shorter!). You can get the traditional taupe and beige colors for which Burberry is famous, or you can buy one of their newer, brighter colors inspired by the vibrancy of Spring!

The Swing Trench

Another popular trench coat style this season is the swing trench. The swing trench is French-inspired, with its wide open, sweeping bottom and almost cape-like design. Madwell Abroad produces and sells some nice examples of the swing trench, perfect for anyone that does not want to mess with buttoning up or tying the belt as it is meant to be worn.

The Embellished Trench

For the ladies who want a little more “oomph”, there are also embellished trench coats. These coats have fancier buttons and buckles, or beautiful, flower embroidery on the shoulders, lapels and/or pockets. You may even find one with embroidery on the back. This is a dressier trench coat for those times when you still want to wear a trench, but you are going someplace special.

The Leather Trench

While most people wouldn’t dream of wearing a leather trench coat (after all, they are supposed to be for rainy, wet, misty weather!), there are some designers that are daring to do this anyway. If it isn’t all leather, it may still have leather trim or faux leather accents, like the Badgley Mischka trench coat. Because they include leather or have leather accents, most of these trench coats leave out the buttons and details because the leather detailing speaks for itself.
